Excel Entertainment has just launched the first official trailer of period drama Gold. The movie is directed by Reema Kagti under the production of Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Akshay Kumar is playing the central role along with Kunal Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal.
The plot of the movie is evolved around a fictional story on the backdrop of a true event of India’s first gold win as a free nation in the Summer Olympics game in 1948. In this 1 minute 7 seconds long trailer, Akshay Kumar is playing a Bengali hockey player Sri N. N Mukherjee or Habul Da, a dream merchant who believe in India’s potentiality in the game without any British supervision.
This patriotic movie is slated to be released on 15 August. The Padman actor, who has already had patriotic movies like Airlift, Baby and Rustam in his kitty, will be seen in another inspiring character. Akshay previously shared the official poster of the movie on his Twitter account. “Set in 1948, the historic story of India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation, #GOLD coming to you on 15th August, 2018!” he posted on the social media.

Gold will join the bandwagon of historical sports films like Lagaan and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Former Indian national hockey team captain and Arjuna award winner Sandeep Singh trained the player for the hockey skill.
