Salman Khan’s father and famous screenwriter has lashed out against former Indian athlete, Milkha Singh, for the latter’s disapproving comments on Salman’s selection as the goodwill ambassador for India’s contingent in Rio Olympics 2016.
Criticising this move by the Indian Olympics Association, Milkha Singh earlier commented,
“We have so many sportspersons in this country who have brought laurels in their respective fields. They have given their blood and sweat in order to shine for their country. Don’t those people deserve a chance? Why should they send a Bollywood actor as the ambassador? We have so many jewels in our country in the field of sports like PT Usha, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Ajit Pal Singh. There are so many others who have won a gold medal for India at the international level. “
Salim Khan, while slamming out at Singh, tweeted the following in response.
Salim told Milkha that it was a superhit Bollywood movie on him that garnered him much fame and allowed him to be remembered in history forever.
He also reminded Milkha Singh of Salman’s achievements:
Finally, he also mentioned the real reason behind the immense popularity of sports persons in India:
The Indian Sports Faternity especially Milkha Singh and Yogeshwar Dutt severely condemned Indian Olympic Associations’s decision to appoint Salman Khan as goodwill ambassador for Rio Olympics 2016. However, MC Mary Kom and Veteran actress Hema Malini came out in support of this decision.
