Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Raees’ is loosely based on the life of a gangster, and is now in the news for controversial reasons. Accordingly, the Ahmedabad court issued a legal notice to the production houses in regard to a case filed by a Gujarati gangster’s son. The son claims that the movie is based on his father, Abdul Latif, and that it is an attempt to defame his father.
Talking about Abdul Latif, he was a wanted criminal who has several cases of murder, kidnapping and bootlegging registered to his name. He was known to be a significant part of Dawood Ibrahim’s gang, and was arrested in 1995 and infamously killed by police in an escape attempt. Latif’s son, Mustaq Ahmad claims that the movie makers consulted his family for minute details.
Mustaq seeks a ban against the release of the movie, as he claims that the second part shows Latif in an offensive manner, which might damages the family’s status. He has filed a suit with Rs 101 crore as damage charges.
The Civil court judge RT Vatsani has filed and directed a notice to be answered by 11th May to Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and co-producers Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia Productions.
Let’s see what would be the next big speed-breaker!
