Prince Williams and Kate Middleton’s royal trip to India started with the gala charity reception with the big cine stars of Bollywood. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on seven days tour to India & Bhutan, and on the very first day of their visit i.e. Sunday, they attended the welcome dinner at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace. The ceremonial event was attended by some of the top Bollywood celebs including Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sophie Choudhary.
Hosted by the British High Commission and the British Asian Trust, the dinner was purposed to raise funds for Magic Bus, Childline 1098 and Door Step. Let’s take a sneak peek into the imperial event.
Madhuri Dixit made her graceful presence in the event with her husband. Seemed to be very happy about it, she tweeted, “Amazing weekend. Morning in Goa at the beach. Evening with the royal couple, Prince William and Kate in Mumbai.”
Shah Rukh Khan was so elated to meet The Duke and the Duchess that he invited them out on the town with him. On asked about his meet with the royal couple, he said, “Is it Ok to say she’s extremely beautiful and elegant? Well she is. If they spend some time here I think they’ll love it. I could definitely show them a good time. I’ll take them out.”
Other Bollywood celebrities who were part of the evening are Arjun Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar. Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
The Duchess clad in a bold blue dress was looking stunningly beautiful and caught the fancy of everyone present in the dinner. The event was concluded by the speech by the Prince, “When Catherine and I were married, India was the first place on Catherine’s list that she told me she wanted to visit. Two children and five years later, we have finally made it – and we are both honoured to be here.”
