Priyanka Chopra is a sensation and role model for many young girls in India and abroad.
Priya Shah, a student at Orchard Lake Middle School in Detroit, took up Priyanka’s life as her project. For this 12-year-old girl, Priyanka’s journey is inspiring and gives her reason for choosing Priyanka as her subject. The young school girl mentions,
I chose her as my subject coz she is an amazing actress and I love watching her movies. But the driving factor that made me chose her is the fact that she is not afraid to step out of her comfort zone. Also, every time she gets criticised, she does not get upset. Instead, she takes the criticism and proves those critics wrong by working hard and not giving up.
Her favourite Priyanka’s movie is Mary Kom because it was an inspiring tale and Priyanka had to undergo 4 months of training too.
Priyanka herself saw this presentation on YouTube and was blown away. She thanked Priya on Twitter, when she wrote,
Priya Shah, 12 yrs, 7th grade, Orchard lake middle school, Detroit. Thank u for thinking I am worthy of being your project.
Recently, Priyanka became the first Indian actor to join the select group of LinkedIn Influencers. Being a philanthropist, she took up the topic of gender inequality on an interview with LinkedIn. She spoke about the wide wage gap that exists not just in the Indian film industry, but also in businesses across the world. During an interview with LinkedIn, Priyanka mentioned,
Somehow professional men are given more remuneration and compensation than women are. As a woman, I don’t understand it, but that’s the world we live in. I don’t want to take away from the male actors who actually bring the audiences in. So, when you have an Aamir or Salman on the poster, they make Rs 300 crores. But movies with female leads simply do not make that kind of money. The day female lead films make or command that much money, we will make that much too. But for that to happen, the audience needs to watch a movie because it’s got a great story and not just because particular star is in it.
