Kaabil gets a clean chit in Pakistan after ban uplifted. Kaabil is doing well on Pakistani screens. But unfortunately Raees got stuck.
The director of Raees expressed his anger on twitter and said:
“#raeesbanned in Pakistan ??? Outraged !! Dumbfounded!!”
IANS reported that Raees is going to hit Pakistani screens on Sunday but was BANNED because of inappropriate portrayal of Muslims in the film. According to Dawn News, the Central Censor Board decided not to release the film in Pakistan.
A source said to Dawn that the reason is
The content undermines Islam, and a specific religious sect, (It also) portrays Muslims as criminals, wanted persons and terrorists
Mahira Khan who has debuted in Raees said in a recent interview that:
You have no idea how much we wanted to get films back here. Raees is a big one. I was getting calls every day. Everyone’s waiting. You can’t even imagine. If you were here you would see how many calls I get asking is it coming.
