Sridevi, the first female superstar of Bollywood passed away on 24th February 2018 at the age of 54 only. The heart of the little girl on the movie Julie singing ‘My heart is beating’ stopped forever. She was the ultimate diva with superb comic timing and dance skill; she made her own space in not only Hindi cinema but also Tamil, Telegu and Kannada movie industries. It is very hard to identify only 5 movies of this legendary actor, but these movies made more impact to remain unparalleled in their respective genre.
- English Vinglish (2012):
The comeback of the actor as Shashi Godbole only to prove that there will never be another Sridevi in Hindi film industry. She played the laughing stalk of her family with ease. The lack of confidence, nervousness, anxiety over poor English skill, the joy of new found freedom and finally self-realization; each and every situation was expressed beautifully. This is perhaps her best performance till date.
- Sadma (1983): One of the finest and heart-wrenching movies of Hindi film industry is known for the ground-breaking acting skill of Sridevi. She played the character of Nehalata who is suffering from retrograde amnesia after an accident. She played the role of a teenage girl with the mental ability of seven years brilliantly. Even Kamal Hasan, the veteran actor and co-star of Sridevi in this movie thought that she played the character even better than the Tamil original movie Moondram Pirai.
- India (1987): Sridevi not only made Mogambo happy with her acting skill in the movie but also made the whole nation happy. We saw her impeccable comic timing in the famous Charlie Chaplin act. The golden headgear and shimmering dress of Hawa Hawai or the blue chiffon; she was every inch the ultimate diva.
- Chaalbaaz (1989): It was only Sridevi who could recreate the magic of Hema Malini in this remake of the cult movie Seeta Aur Geeta. She played quiet Manju and wild Anju with same ease and comfort. The movie is considered one of the best comedy movies of Hindi film industry for her aplomb performance.
- Chandni (1989): Sridevi was one of the finest Yash Chopra heroines. every youngster surely missed a beat seeing this ethereal beauty in yellow chiffon saree on the backdrop of Switzerland. The movie was the biggest hit of the year, even won a national award.
