The most controversial Bollywood flick Padmaavat finally hit the box offices on 25 January, 2018 despite huge controversy and violence from Karni Sena before its release and finally became the hot news in media. Shri Rajput Karni Sena is against the release of Padmaavat as according to them the film featuring some obnoxious scenes of Padmaavati and Alauddin Khilji and demeaning Rajput.
Padmaavat, earlier named as Padmavati, has been into controversy from production to promotion. Rajput Karni Sena warned film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for not releasing the movie. Despite the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clearance and Supreme Court’s verdict, protestors continued agitations and finally stopped film from releasing in all over the country. Produced with budget of 215 Cr, the film is still not released in some states like Gujrat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, but continues to catch attention of audience with tremendous box office collections. Though beginning of the protest was not into lime light, it finally took a big turn in November when film was ready to release. With the main concern of distorting the historical facts, Rajput organizations even directly threatened Deepika, who is playing role of Padmaavati. Earlier, the film was scheduled to be released on December 1st, but it finally delayed after witnessing growing protests against it everywhere.
Prasoon Joshi, Chairperson of CBFC, finally intervened and appeared before Lok Sabha’s committee to handle the situation. Finally, a committee made for reviewing the entire movie and give their opinions. The committee, consisted of Royal Arvind Singh and two historians KK Singh and Chandamani Singh, suggested five changes to film producer who finally agreed for it.
Apart from these suggestions, the original name of the movie was also changed from Padmaavati to Padmaavat by Film Censor Board. Though Sanjay Leela Bhansali got accompany of superstars Akshay Kumar and others, it doesn’t help him in releasing film everywhere in the country.
Padmaavat sets a grand opening at the box office, passes 100 crore barriers
Amid the controversy, the film crosses the mark of 100 crore and witnessed good responses from audience. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, who finally succeeded to tantalize the senses of audience with their notable performances. The much-awaited film has finally got entry into the 100-crore club and steadily winning heart of audience. The total earning of movie is 130 Cr till date.
