Shahid Kapoor was born on 25th February, 1981 to Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem. He done his schooling from Gyaan Bharati, Delhi till 4th grade and then moved to Raajhans Vidyalaya, Mumbai. He is an expert dancer from Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts and made unnoticed appearance as a background dancer in blockbuster movies of 90s Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and Taal (1999).
