From Boom to Jagga Jasoos, Katrina Kaif is one Bollywood Diva whose journey is filled with ups and down. Starting her career from a controversial movie Boom, this British model and actress has leaved no stone unturned to make a mark in the Indian film industry. Be it the bubbly-girl from Namastey London, a life-loving woman from ZNMD or a budding politician from Rajneeti– this Chikni Chameli has successfully covered the Agneepath of B-town. On her Birthday, let’s have a flashback of her journey to stardom.
Born on July 16, 1984 to Mohammad Kaif and Suzzane Turquotte, Katrina began her modelling career at the age of 14 for a jewelry campaign. She began her professional career in modelling with various freelance agencies and got featured on London Fashion Week.
Kat was then roped in for small role in Boom made by London based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad. The movie didn’t do well on the Box office and was severely criticised for its explicit content.
Katrina kaif also worked in South film industry. In 2004, she played the female lead in telugu film Malliswari with Venkatesh.
She first bagged her big break in Bollywood with Sarkar in 2005 opposite Abhishek Bachchan.
And then began her golden period with Akshay Kumar. She did some awesome roles with the Khiladi Kumar in movies like Humko Deewana kar Gaye, Namastey London, Welcome and Singh is King.
In 2010, she teamed up with A.R Rahman and created a music album, Ryhmeskool. It was intended to raise money for building a school in Madurai.
But it was not all rosy for Kat. She always remained in the paparazzi for her lack of acting ability, improper Hindi diction and rumoured link-ups with actors like Salman Khan and later on Ranbir Kapoor.
However, Katrina faced with all odds and proved her abilities in movies like Race, Rajneeti and New York. Her strong portrayals of a ISI and Raw agent in movies like Ek Tha Tiger and Phantom established her as a serious actor!
Outside the screen space, Katrina was as strong as her roles in her movies. She moved ahead with her Bollywood career with films like Zinadagi Na Milegi Dobara, Azab Prem ki Ghazab Kahaani, Jab tak hai Jaan and Dhoom 3.
From Chikni Chameli to Sheela Ki Jawaani- she rocked the big screen with her sexy moves and her hot personality.
Happy Birthday Katrina!!!
